Teams from the Australian Chinese Soccer Association (ASCA) have returned home victorious from the ‘Evergreen Tournament’ – the Chinese Senior World Cup recently held in Auckland.

Four teams represented the ASCA with the Over 50s team being crowned World Champions and the Over 45s and Over 65s teams both returning home as Runners-up in their respective divisions. The fourth team, the Over 60s came fifth, rounding up the best ever results for ACSA in this world event.

The ASCA recently celebrated its 25th (Silver) Anniversary at the Crystal Seafood Restaurant in Strathfield with more than 250 guests in attendance. Special guest speaker on the night, former Socceroo and media personality, Craig Foster, spoke on the valuable contribution that football plays in Australia’s multicultural landscape and its role in uniting people of many nations in the ‘world game’.  Other guests included former NSL great and now Foxtel Hyundai A-League commentator, Andy Harper, former NSL General Manager and FFA Hall of Fame inductee, Stefan Kamasz, News Limited’s football journalist, Dominic Bossi and several representatives from Sydney FC, while Football NSW was represented by Peter Hugg, Head of Football.

Hugg stated “the ASCA is to be congratulated for its 25 Year Anniversary and for its overall contribution to our game in New South Wales. Special commendation is deserved for all the volunteers who put in so many hours and to the sponsors who support and fund their activities, as well as to the teams that competed in the recent Evergreen Tournament in New Zealand. I wish them all best wishes and every success for the next 25 years!”
