Mountain Majik v Campbelltown Quake

Mountain Majik line up for a season-defining match against joint-leaders Campbelltown Quake at Hawkesbury Indoor Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Back-to-back Mountain victories have put a six-match win-less run to start the summer well and truly behind them but they still trail fourth-placed Northside by four points – the playoffs may become a bridge too far should they not gather some more points this weekend.

In their way is a Campbelltown juggernaut who have conceded just 15 goals in eight matches and building up some good form of late despite missing two of their best players (Claire Walsh and Darcey Malone).

Nothing separates the club historically with five wins apiece and two draws.

Inner West Magic v Boomerangs FS

Defending premiers Inner West Magic will look to maintain pressure on the leaders when they host Boomerangs FS at Valentine Sports Park on Saturday evening.

Inner West didn’t lose a match last year but have been beaten three times already in the opening eight rounds this time around, and all they can do to keep the dream alive for a third-straight premiership is keep plugging away and hope Vipers slip up.

Boomerangs are well and truly up against it – they’ve never beaten Magic in seven league tries although the last four games have been tight, including a gritty 3-5 loss earlier this season following a 0-1 defeat in January 2017.

The only time they’ve met at Valentine finished 2-2 in November 2014 and came off a 5-5 gunfight the previous time they played each other (in February 2014) – still the highest score by a PL women’s team that didn’t win the match.

UTS Northside v Eastern Suburbs Hakoah

What a contest UTS Northside versus Eastern Suburbs Hakoah should be at PCYC Dee Why on Saturday evening.

Placed fourth and fifth on the table an Easts win will make it very tight in the race to the playoffs or if Northside get up it’ll open up a gap between the top-half and bottom-half of the competition.

Both sides are more than capable, but while UTS boast the comp’s second-best defence (16 goals leaked to Campbelltown’s 15) they’ve also scored the third-least number of goals (19).

Hakoah have also won their last two encounters since a 0-3 defeat to Northside at Dee Why last October.

Enfield Allstars v Mascot Vipers

On paper win-less Enfield Allstars versus top-spot Mascot Vipers is the biggest mismatch since David met Goliath – but we all know how that ended up and it could be an interesting Saturday night at Morris Iemma Indoor Sports Centre.

Particularly as Mascot’s lost their last two games to allow Campbelltown to draw alongside them in first place, while Enfield were heroic in a tight 0-1 loss to Northside on the weekend.

Allstars hold the historical edge with eight wins and two draws from the last 14 Vipers meetings, but they will need to pull out something special to dream big this Saturday.

Enfield have managed just five goals all summer (Mascot 33) and haven’t scored in the last three rounds. They’ve also conceded 41 goals (Mascot 17) to underline the contrast between the sides.
