Women’s Futsal Premier League round-14 Saturday pits Mountain Majik take on Enfield Allstars, UTS Northside tackle Campbelltown Quake, Eastern Suburbs Hakoah play Inner West Magic, and Mascot Vipers face Boomerangs FS.

The premiership will come down to a winner-takes-all clash between top-two Inner West (27 points) and Easts (26), with Campbelltown (24) and Mascot (22) penciled in for the other playoff positions as Mountain (19) and Northside (19) need more mathematics than an Einstein theory to have any chance of sneaking in.

The Golden Boot race will also be decided in the Inner West versus Easts clash with Magic’s Rhianna Pollicina (23 goals) holding off a mesmerising run from Hakoah’s Tamires Souza (20) who has notched up three straight hat-tricks.

And don’t forget to tune into Wednesday night’s 2019 Futsal Cup final between Inner West Magic and PL2-side Raiders, being streamed live through the Football NSW Futsal Facebook page from 7pm with commentary from Tony Tannous!

Mountain Majik v Enfield Allstars

Mountain Majik play a mathematical game against bottom-side Enfield Allstars at Valentine Sports Park on Sunday afternoon.

The Mountaineers are fifth, three points behind Mascot, and need a seven-goal swing (plus a Vipers loss to Boomerangs) to pull off the best escape trick since Houdini.

Majik were slow to get going this season and didn’t register their first win until beating Allstars 7-zip in round-seven; they’ve also suffered four draws to find themselves in this twisty situation.

Enfield are sitting on a duck after 13 straight defeats but in 14 Mountain encounters over the years, 10 have been decided by two goals or less.

UTS Northside v Campbelltown Quake

Campbelltown Quake will feel it’s a must-win game versus UTS Northside at PCYC Dee Why on Sunday afternoon.

A win to third-placed Quake would see them stay in that position, but a loss or draw could allow Vipers to skip past them and leave the south-westerners most-likely facing juggernauts Inner West in the semi-finals.

Northside require a 10-goal swing from a win over Campbelltown and a shock Boomerangs victory versus Mascot if they are any chance – they’ll also need winless Enfield to draw or keep within sight of their opponents Mountain; in any case it’s win and pray for UTS.

It’s tight between the two sides with five wins apiece and only two games blowing out past a two-goal margin, veterans Claire Walsh (Quake) and Sarah Roger (UTS) top-scoring in the fixture with just four goals each.

Campbelltown have won the last two meetings by a goal, 3-2 and 2-1 earlier this season.

Eastern Suburbs Hakoah v Inner West Magic

What an incredible scenario there is in the Eastern Suburbs Hakoah versus Inner West Magic premiership-battle at All Sorts Indoor Sports Centre on Sunday afternoon.

Whoever wins this match will be crowned this summer’s premiers, and a draw will see Inner West secure a third straight premiership.

An Easts defeat will allow a Campbelltown victory to scoot ahead of them and set up a semi-final between the pair the following week.

Both teams are certainly on a roll with Hakoah winning five-straight and Magic four, and Easts rolled Inner West 3-1 in round-seven for their first fixture-win – the other games have finished 2-2 and a 3-0 Magic win last season, plus a hectic 5-3 win to Inner West in this summer’s Futsal Cup.

It all certainly adds up to a mesmerising showdown next week between Hakoah’s highest scoring-average per-season Souza (17.5 goals) versus Magic’s league highest-scorer Pollicina (106 goals).

Mascot Vipers v Boomerangs FS

Mascot Vipers need only a point against Boomerangs FS at Morris Iemma Indoor Sports Centre on Sunday night to feature in the finals.

Mascot were flying high on top of the league with six straight wins to start the summer but have only achieved one victory (against Enfield) since then, and that was four weeks ago.

More jaw-dropping is a Vipers side that scored 28 goals in those first six rounds only to be kept scoreless in three of the last four matches.

Should Boomerangs spring an upset over Mascot, like they did in their 3-2 round-seven win, Vipers could mathematically be gunned down by either Mountain or Northside – it would be an embarrassing capitulation considering their strong season-start.

Mascot hold a 5-2 overall winning tally against the Territorians, who need a point to register their highest PL points-haul.
