In some positive football news, Blue Mountains councillors have signed off on a projected $1.1 million tender for the construction of a new clubhouse at Pitt Park in Wentworth Falls and $198,000 for the design of an amenities building at Knapsack Park in Glenbrook benefiting both Wentworth Falls FC and Blue Mountains FC.

Wentworth Falls FC President Lesley Tarlinton was delighted with the tender approval and told the local Blue Mountains Gazette that it was down to 25 years of hard savings and persistence that gave way to such welcome news.

“We hope to start next year with a new clubhouse and the football family of the Mountains and Nepean will all be welcome to enjoy the new council facility at Pitt Park,” Ms Tarlinton stated to the Blue Mountains Gazette.

“The WFFC committee is excited that the new facility will give us a safe and functional building for all the football community activities we enjoy as a club.”

The club stated it will contribute $250,000 to the build, which is also funded by Sports Australia and the NSW Asian Cup Legacy Fund grants.

The upgrade to Pitt Park will see a new clubhouse as well as toilets, canteen and a veranda to assist in times of poor weather.

While Blue Mountains FC President David Smith was looking forward to the project starting as soon as possible on their new amenities block at Knapsack Park.

“We don’t want it be to a construction zone in the middle of the season,” he told the Blue Mountains Gazette.

“What we ultimately want is a nice, modern facility that provides the least amount of interference to the neighbours.”

Both upgrades will look to be raring to go in for the 2021 grassroots season.
