Football NSW has announced the appointment of recently elected Board Member Gilbert Lorquet as Chairman of the State’s governing body.

The Board of Football NSW appointed Mr. Lorquet as Chairman at a Board Meeting held on Monday night.  Fiona Lang was elected as Deputy Chair.

Mr. Lorquet had been elected as one of the two directors to the Football NSW board at the Annual General Meeting held recently.

“It’s a great honour to have been elected by the members to the board and now to be appointed by my fellow Board Members to lead Football NSW as the Chairman,” said Lorquet.

“I want to thank the board for entrusting me with such an important role.  I am looking forward to working with the entire football family to continue to grow and develop our game.”

The 46-year-old brings extensive experience across corporate and sports administration.

Mr. Lorquet is currently the Chief Executive Officer for the NORTH Foundation, fundraising arm of the Northern Sydney Local Health District. He has also held football positions in NSW.

He was previously President of Abbotsford Juniors FC and Deputy Chairman of Canterbury & District Soccer Football Association.
