Macarthur Football Association kicking goals
Despite the disruption of a global health pandemic over the past two seasons, the world game in the Macarthur Football Association is in great shape.
Having launched the strategic plan for the game in the region in 2020, the Macarthur Football Association, under the leadership of Chairman Darcy Lound the Board of Directors, and its Member Clubs, have made steady progress against some ambitious objectives.
Here is a summary of what has been achieved over the past few years:
- Undertook Constitutional Reform, paving the way for a new era of modern, best practise governance and management.
- Completed a comprehensive Review of MFA Competitions. This has led to:
- The redesign and relaunch of Macarthur’s top tier Men’s and Women’s Competitions, the M-League.
- Amended Local Competition and Judicial Regulations.
- Introduced of grading and regrading principles.
- Expanded summer, social Football offerings.
- Delivered full season draws well ahead of Round One each season.
- Delivered professional, consistent, and timely customer service.
- Improving Match Official coverage.
- Finalised the 5-year Facilities Strategy for Football in Macarthur, having identified key priority capital works projects and new target sites.
- Overseen upgrades and improvements to many facilities across Macarthur, including:
- New synthetic field at Nott Oval
- New floodlighting at Ron Dine Reserve
- New floodlighting at Wandarrah Reserve
- New floodlighting and irrigation at Eschol Park
- New floodlighting and irrigation at Blinman Oval
- New floodlighting at Sarah Redfern
- Irrigation at Macquarie Fields
- Building replacement at Jackson Park
- New storage facility at Douglas Park
- Lynwood Park building replacement at fields 3 & 4
- Installation of safety netting, office fit out, and storge areas at Lynwood Park
- Upgraded PA system at Lynwood Park
- New amenities building at Rosemeadow
- New amenities building at Ambarvale
- Secured Cunningham Park, Emerald Hills, and Mike Doohan Reserve as new venues for our code.
- 12 MFA clubs have completed the National Club Development Program, with each club earning a 3-star rating our higher.
- Launched a new club in Camden – Gregory Hills FC
- Completed a comprehensive review of Representative Football and Coach Development, with the following already undertaken or underway:
- Improving standards of coaching through the delivery of more accessible courses, removing barriers to advanced courses, mentoring local coaches, offering specialist development services & events (and easier access to these), and offering greater opportunities to coach.
- Represented in the NSW NPL by Macarthur Rams, Macarthur Rams Women, and the Camden Tigers, with the Tigers set to join the NSW NPLW in 2022.
- The MFA continues to run programs such as ADP, SAP and AYL to support player and coach development.
- Launched the local M-SAP, commencing with U8.
- Galvanised the Football Community through the delivery of functions and events such as Season Launches, City v Country Charity Cup, M-League Awards, and Grand Final Series’.
- Celebrated the game in Macarthur with increased coverage, having introduced weekly highlight packages from around the grounds, as well as live streams via our digital platforms.
- Increased participation in football by Women and Girls to record numbers in Macarthur, driven through the introduction of Girls-only MiniRoos teams and Leagues.
- Increased overall participation in the game to record numbers in 2021.
While Macarthur FA still have much to do, the Association should be proud of how far they’ve come in such a short space of time and despite significant adversity.
