Christie Park was a hive of activity as Hills Football, Northern Suburbs FA and North West Sydney Football Association joined forces in conducting a memorable event in celebration of International Day of People with Disability on Saturday 4th of December.

The entire celebration and event were focused on encompassing a variety of elements across the All Abilities football space in NSW.

An Inclusive Coaching Workshop kicked off the day’s events which provided existing, new and interested coaches with an insight into tips and various learning elements needed when managing people with disabilities. The insightful Workshop saw over 25 coaches attend, all of which had a fantastic day taking in some great tips from presenters such as Football NSW Director Deborah Chapman, Special Olympic’s Leisl Simpson, Pararoos Head Coach Kai Lammert, Pararoos player Ben Sutton, PINK coach Kim Schaefer and North West Sydney Football and Spirit FC’s Tim Palmer along with Football NSW Staff all played a starring role during the Workshop.

A Football Gala Day soon followed as more than 45 players across various programs and Associations in NSW were treated to match that included players from the Pararoos, NSW Female CP Program and the Blind and Vision Impaired Football NSW teams.

This event was in conjunction with International Day of People with Disability that was celebrated on Saturday 4th of December and is a date that is championed by the United Nations.

The UN aims to increase public awareness, understanding and acceptance of people with disability by celebrating their achievements and contributions in this instance with the world game.

Well done to all Associations involved in bringing this unforgettable day to life.
