Football NSW has announced the launch of the Future Female Coaches Mentoring Program, a new initiative aimed at fostering the next generation of high-performance female coaches within the state’s Talented Player Pathway.

This exclusive program is designed for female coaches who hold a minimum AFC ‘B’ Diploma and are actively working within Football NSW Talented Player Pathway competitions.

Six coaches will be selected for this inaugural cohort, offering a unique opportunity to enhance their development and career progression within elite football environments.

Participants in the program will be paired with experienced mentors who will provide tailored support throughout the season.

Each coach will receive:

  • Three in-person mentoring visits where mentors will observe coaching sessions and fixtures to provide hands-on guidance and deliver direct feedback in a real-world environment.
  • Regular online meetings, offering ongoing support, reflection opportunities, and strategic development planning.

The Future Female Coaches Mentoring Program is proudly funded by the NSW Office of Sport’s NSW Football Legacy Program and the CommBank Growing Football Fund.

This initiative forms part of Football NSW’s broader commitment to creating inclusive, equitable, and high-performance pathways for women in football.

By investing in the development of female coaches at the highest levels, the program seeks to build a stronger and more diverse coaching community that reflects the evolving face of the game.

Football NSW’s Head of Women’s and Schools Football Hayley Todd expressed her delight in the introduction of such an important project aimed at further developing the women’s game in the state.

“Creating sustainable pathways for female coaches is a key priority for us.

“The Future Female Coaches Mentoring Program not only aids the development of these female coaches it also through the allocation of mentors provide them with insights into what it takes to take the step from our NSW competitions into National or international environments.”

Football NSW’s Coach Education Manager Chris Adams looked forward to delivering this program in what’s been touted as an integral step in further mentoring female coaches in NSW.

“This program is a vital step in supporting our female coaches as they strive to reach the highest levels of the game.

“With structured mentoring and ongoing development, we’re not only investing in individual careers but also shaping the future of coaching in NSW.”
