The Futsal Premier League 2 Open Men’s competition has reached the halfway mark, and it’s shaping up to be an exciting run home.

With eight teams vying for supremacy, let’s take a look at how each side is tracking as we head into the business end of the 2025 season.

West City Crusaders – Setting the Pace

Leading the pack are the West City Crusaders, who rebuilt impressively during the off-season and have been unstoppable across the opening seven rounds.

They’ve claimed seven wins from seven including a thrilling 6–4 victory over defending champions Macarthur Quake and a nail-biting 5–4 triumph against South Coast Taipans opening up a commanding 10-point lead at the top of the ladder.

Lachlan Cremona has been in sensational form with 13 goals, supported by Ryan Faulkner and Samuel Young, who have both contributed regularly on the scoresheet. The Crusaders look well on track to secure a finals berth and will be strong contenders to lift the title later this season.

SD Raiders Futsal – Back in Business

Sitting second are SD Raiders Futsal, enjoying a return to form after a disappointing 2024 campaign. With three wins and two draws from their opening seven fixtures, they’ve been involved in several high-scoring contests.

Once again, Matthew Barkho leads the charge with 11 goals, closely followed by strike partner Charles Serhal on 10. Their standout performances include an emphatic 11–5 win over Central Coast United FC and a 9–6 victory over South Coast Taipans.

The Raiders have built a solid platform for the second half of the season as they look to lock in a spot in the finals.

Macarthur Quake Futsal Club – Champions Still in the Hunt

In third place are the reigning champions, Macarthur Quake Futsal Club, who have brought the core of last season’s title-winning side back together for 2025.

With a game in hand and three wins from six matches, the Quake remain firmly in contention. Mark Symington continues to be their go-to scorer, netting 11 goals so far.

Expect the defending champions to be in the mix once again as they chase back-to-back titles.

South Coast Taipans – Stinging in the Top Four

Rounding out the top four are the South Coast Taipans, who have adjusted well to life back in FPL2 under coach Bobby Mazevski. Their season has seen a mix of wins and losses, but they’ve already racked up three victories, including back-to-back triumphs over Central Coast United and APIA FC Futsal, scoring 19 goals across those two games.

With a youthful, energetic squad, the Taipans will be eager to maintain their position and make a push deep into finals contention.

APIA FC Futsal – Finding Their Feet

Currently in fifth, APIA FC Futsal endured a slow start but have turned things around in recent weeks, going three games unbeaten. With matches in hand, they’re well-positioned to challenge for a place in the top four.

Bilal Belkadi has been their standout performer, leading the way with 11 goals as APIA aim to build momentum through the back half of the season.

Raiders Futsal Club – Late-Season Threats

In sixth spot are Raiders Futsal Club, a side known for their strong finishes. Led by Slaven and Goran Ljuboja, the Raiders have picked up two wins so far both in consecutive rounds against SD Raiders Futsal and South Coast Taipans.

They boast plenty of attacking talent in Christopher Godoy Bascur and Tomas Medimurac, while goalkeeper Ibrahim Daniel has been a rock at the back. Don’t count this side out just yet.

Phoenix Futsal Club – Rising from the Ashes

Last year’s grand finalists, Phoenix Futsal Club, sit seventh but remain only four points off the top four. Paul Lee has been in fine form, highlighted by a five-goal haul in a Grand Final rematch against Macarthur Quake.

A recent 6–6 draw with SD Raiders Futsal could prove the turning point for Phoenix as they look to mount a second-half surge, led by vocal captain James Brunacci in goal.

Central Coast United – Building Foundations

Rounding out the standings are newcomers Central Coast United, who currently sit eighth. They made an impressive start to life in FPL2 with a 6–2 away win over Raiders Futsal Club in Round 1 and followed it up with a thrilling 4–4 draw against Phoenix Futsal Club.

Callum O’Connor leads the scoring with six goals, while Noah Block has added five. The young squad continues to gain valuable experience as they build for the future.
