he road to silverware begins this weekend as one of the state’s largest grassroots knockout competitions, the Football NSW State Cup, officially gets underway across New South Wales.

Run by Football NSW, the State Cup, alongside the Robertson and Bill Cullinan Cups brings together association-based male and female club teams, as well as Country Association representative and club sides, in a true celebration of community football.

A total of 726 teams have registered for this year’s competition, marking an increase of 21 teams overall, with the most significant growth coming in the youth age groups. The rise highlights the continued strength and expansion of grassroots football across the state.

The competition spans a wide range of age groups, including:

  • Boys/Men: 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 21, Over 35s and All Age Men
  • Girls/Women: 13, 14, 15, 16, 18 and All Age Women

With knockout football comes high stakes, as teams from across metropolitan and regional areas battle it out for progression and the chance to feature on the biggest stage.

All roads lead to Valentine Sports Park, the home of football in NSW, where the State Cup Finals will be held on Sunday, 12 July.

Long-serving Football NSW Competitions Coordinator Kim Burge said the continued growth of the competition reflects its importance within the football calendar.

“The State Cup continues to be a fantastic platform for players of all ages and associations to experience knockout football in a truly inclusive environment,” Burge said.

“To see participation numbers grow again this year, particularly in the youth age groups, is incredibly pleasing and highlights the strength of grassroots football across New South Wales.

“We’re looking forward to another exciting competition and seeing teams from all regions compete for the opportunity to play at Valentine Sports Park.”

Adding further support to the competition, Deploy Sports returns as the official ball sponsor of the Football NSW State Cup.

With hundreds of teams, countless storylines, and the unpredictability of knockout football, the opening rounds promise excitement from the very first whistle as clubs begin their journey towards State Cup glory.
