Round 14 Preview – League One Women’s
Round 14 in the Football NSW League One Women’s competition represents the start of the second half of the season and the push into the business end of the campaign, with teams fighting for finals spots.
There are six games to savour across the weekend, including a top four clash, headlined by Blacktown City FC and SD Raiders FC in the Match of the Round.
Let’s get into the preview!
Match of the Round: Blacktown City FC vs SD Raiders FC, Sunday 31 May, 5pm, Landen Stadium
Blacktown City FC host SD Raiders FC in the Match of the Round at Landen Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
The hosts won 4-1 against Central Coast Mariners FC in their game at Pluim Park last weekend. Layla Hamden and Isabella Roderique contributed three goals between them in the victory and will aim to repeat the dose against the league leaders. Another key contributor for Blacktown City FC this season has been Rhea D’Mello, who was their leading scorer last season.
SD Raiders FC’s second-half surge helped them beat Newcastle Jets FC 4-1 at Ernie Smith Reserve in last week’s Match of the Round. Sophie Furia came on early in the win, and her work down either flank showed SD Raiders FC have a huge array of talent across the squad.
The reverse fixture back in Round 1 was one of SD Raiders FC’s two defeats this season, and they will be keen to turn the tide in Seven Hills.
This game will be streamed LIVE on the Football NSW YouTube page with Pete Prior behind the microphone for the clash.
South Coast Flame FC vs Marconi Stallions FC, Saturday 30 May, 2pm, Sir Ian McLennan Oval
South Coast Flame FC welcome Marconi Stallions FC to Sir Ian McLennan Oval on Saturday afternoon.
The Flame were held to a 2-2 draw against Camden Tigers FC at Ron Dine Reserve last weekend. Abbey Crapp was on the scoresheet again and will be ready to fire in a big game between top four contenders. Former Hills United FC defender Amie Mastop has joined the Flame and will help shore up their defence heading into the second half of the season.
Marconi Stallions FC made it eight games unbeaten after a solid 2-0 win against Blacktown Spartans FC. That result has put Michael Beauchamp’s side into second on the League One Women’s ladder, just a point behind leaders SD Raiders FC. Leading the way for the Stallions is Jasmyn Windsor, who scored both goals and has been in strong form recently.
Newcastle Jets FC vs St George FC, Sunday 31 May, 5pm, Lake Macquarie Regional Football Facility
Newcastle Jets FC take on St George FC at Lake Macquarie Regional Football Facility on Sunday afternoon.
Navah Crofton was their lone goalscorer with a free kick, and the attacker will look to add to her tally at home. While it was a frustrating result for the Jets, Charlotte Lowrie put in a strong shift against a potent SD Raiders FC attack.
St George FC broke their duck with a 4-2 win against Bankstown City Lions FC at Barton Park last weekend. Jordan Baker stamped her mark on the game with a hat-trick, and the sharpshooter will be crucial to the Saints’ success.
The win also saw Charlotte Young and Sarah Urquhart make their Saints debuts, bringing valuable experience to the side.
Central Coast Mariners FC vs Sutherland Strikers FC, Sunday 31 May, 5pm, Pluim Park
Central Coast Mariners FC face Sutherland Strikers FC at Pluim Park on Sunday afternoon.
The Mariners lost 4-1 to Blacktown City FC in their first game back at Pluim Park last weekend. Peyton Scollay found the back of the net in the defeat, and her combination alongside Ava Moller and Claire Denning remains important for the academy side. Goalkeeper Kyara O’Brien has returned to the Mariners setup after time in the NPL NSW Women’s competition and brings composure in goal.
Sutherland Strikers FC had a pulsating 2-2 draw with Inter Lions FC at Harrie Dening Centre. Lili Rosandic has pushed further up the park this season and opened the scoring in the thrilling encounter, underlining her value to the side. The Strikers sit five points behind fourth spot and will need to string together results to close the gap.
Bankstown City Lions FC vs Nepean FC, Sunday 31 May, 5:30pm, Jensen Park
Bankstown City Lions FC take on Nepean FC at Jensen Park on Sunday evening.
The Lions come into this game off a 4-2 loss to St George FC at Barton Park last weekend. Karen Bennett continues to be the spearhead for the side with her brace in the defeat, and she will be eager to fire again. Alongside her, Krystallia Kallidakis will be looking to help the Lions return to winning ways.
Nepean FC had the weekend off, with the bye in Round 13 of the League One Women’s competition. Ellie Howard has been a consistent presence in their strong first half of the season and will again help lead the side on Sunday. The visitors have hit a slight roadblock in recent weeks, halting their top four charge, and coach Sean Payer will be keen to respond with three points.
Inter Lions FC vs Blacktown Spartans FC, Sunday 31 May, 7pm, Majors Bay Reserve
Inter Lions FC host Blacktown Spartans FC in the final game of the weekend at Majors Bay Reserve on Sunday night.
The Lions showed grit in their 2-2 draw against Sutherland Strikers FC at Harrie Dening Centre. Cate Gyzen scored both goals in the draw and has been a valuable addition to the Inter Lions FC side in 2026. They were beaten heavily in the Round 1 fixture, and John Di Biase’s side will be eager to earn revenge.
Blacktown Spartans FC were beaten 2-0 by Marconi Stallions FC at Blacktown Football Park last weekend. Ella Morris has enjoyed a strong return to the line-up since Round 9, including a goal in the Sapphire Cup, and will look to carry that form into this clash. Custodian Amelia Stewart made her first league start of the season last weekend, and her performance between the posts will be vital.
Camden Tigers FC have the bye.
