The stage is set for a blockbuster conclusion to the 2026 Waratah Cup, with two high-stakes Semi-Finals confirmed featuring some of the biggest and most historic clubs in Football NSW Men’s National Premier League alongside a rising contender looking to shake the established order.

With a place in the grand final on the line, four teams remain in the hunt for one of the most prestigious prizes in NSW football, setting up a pair of fixtures packed with history, rivalry and knockout drama.

The opening Semi-Final sees a clash of former NSL heavyweights as Sydney Olympic host Sydney United 58 in a meeting steeped in tradition. For Olympic, 2026 has been a challenging campaign, with the club, usually entrenched in finals contention now fighting to avoid relegation after a difficult start to the season. Head coach Michael Melito will be tasked with steadying the ship in one of the club’s biggest matches of the year.

Across the pitch, however, stands one of the most successful cup sides in Australian football. Sydney United 58 return once again as Waratah Cup specialists, having lifted the trophy eight times, most recently last year with a gritty 1-0 victory over Northern Tigers at Valentine Sports Park. Under experienced leadership, Miro Vlastelica’s side enters the Semi-Final with a familiar focus: adding yet another piece of silverware to their decorated history.

The second Semi-Final promises an equally compelling contest as APIA Leichhardt FC take on SD Raiders FC in a battle of tradition versus ambition.

APIA continue their strong 2026 campaign, sitting equal first in the NPL Men’s NSW standings alongside Marconi Stallions and reinforcing their status as one of the competition’s true power clubs. With six Waratah Cup titles already to their name, Franco Parisi’s side once again carries heavy expectation as they push for another deep run in a competition synonymous with their success.

Standing in their way is a rapidly emerging force in SD Raiders FC, who return to the Semi-Finals for a second consecutive year. While still building their presence in the Football NSW landscape, the Raiders have already shown they are more than capable of causing problems for established heavyweights. Last year their run was ended by eventual champions Sydney United 58, but this time they arrive with belief and momentum as they chase a historic first-ever Waratah Cup Final appearance.

Both Semi-Finals will be streamed live and exclusively on the Football NSW YouTube channel, giving fans across the state a front-row seat to two massive encounters that will define the path to this year’s final.

The Waratah Cup Final details are still to be confirmed and will be announced via Football NSW platforms once finalised.

A competition rich in history, the Waratah Cup remains the most prestigious knockout tournament in Football NSW men’s football.

First introduced in 1957 as the Federation Cup, the competition has evolved through several formats and names including the Ascot (Craven) Cup before becoming the Waratah Cup in 1991, when Blacktown City claimed the inaugural title under its current name.

Now in its 22nd season under the Waratah Cup banner, the competition continues to represent the pinnacle of knockout football in NSW, with entry determined through the Hahn Australia Cup Preliminary rounds, where the four winners from the Seventh Round qualify for the tournament proper.

With giants colliding and underdogs ready to strike, the road to Waratah Cup glory is now wide open.
