Belrose-Terrey Hills Raiders 2

Lindfield FC 0

Belrose-Terrey Hills Raiders completed a huge year as they claimed the Champion of Champions in the 13 Girls following their State Cup victory earlier in the year with a 2-0 win over Lindfield football Club.

With the game’s first corner, Belrose-Terrey Hills opted to play short, before a cross was sent to the far post and Ava-Capri Rossi placed a calm finish past Lindfield’s Lucinda Walter.

The Raiders looked set for a runaway goal as Tahnia Guzzo went into the clear towards goal but a strong tackle from Lindfield’s Ava Bates denied a chance to shoot.

Lindfield were also dangerous with their first corner of the game, with the ball bouncing around the area for a while before it was eventually cleared by the raiders.

They went close once again when Bianca Murrell crossed the ball from the left to Shylah Carre, her effort just wide.

Murrell was proving a challenge on the left wing for Lindfield, breaking free for a shot that when straight into the arms of Holly Wilson.

The Raiders had another close chance off the right boot of Indigo Walker, but a clever save from Walter kept the score at 1-0 to end the first half.

Walker doubled the Belrose-Terrey Hills lead in the second half with a lovely strike from outside the box from Walker, which slipped through the fingers of Walter and into the net.

Lindfield appeared to have clawed one back just seconds later as Sophia Tewater’s shot hit the post and was tidily finished by Bianca Liu, who was unfortunately in an offside position so the goal did not stand.

Lindfield had another close opportunity through Murrell, but her shot from the left side going across the face of the goal.

Both teams continued to play a very free-flowing brand of football with chances at either end.

Congratulations to the Belrose-Terrey Hills Raiders club who were Champions in both the Under 13 Girls and Under 14 Boys divisions this morning.

14 Girls

Seaforth Football Club 1

Lindfield Football Club 2

In the Under 14 Girls it was a tight contest when Lindfield Football Club beat Seaforth Football Club 2-1.

Zoe Dawson created the first chance for Lindfield, with a nice run down the left side before producing a cross that was challenging for Seaforth goalkeeper Ciara Maguire to reel in.

Seaforth had their own opportunity soon after, as Zara Parslow found space on the edge of the box and sent in a looping shot for Lindfield goalkeeper Savannah Cornish to catch comfortably.

It was Lindfield who opened the scoring through an impressive solo effort from Nikki Tooth, pinching the ball off the Seaforth backline and beating Maguire before a calm finish into the bottom corner to put her side in front.

Seaforth almost had their equaliser as Zoe Traynor ran onto a lovely pass from Amira Sharanizadeh, Traynor’s shot hitting the post before Cornish made the crucial save

It was Seaforth who had the first opportunity of the first half as a Jessa Harpur shot took a deflection, but Cornish adjusted well to make the save.

Lindfield replied quickly, as Dawson found herself with room to shoot on the edge of the box, forcing Maguire into an outstretched save high to her right.

Traynor continued to be a key player for Seaforth, creating a nice opportunity for herself but the shot wasn’t enough to beat Cornish in goal.

Eventually Seaforth found their goal, left back Trinity McNeil burst into a pocket of space outside the box and fired a perfectly placed shot into the bottom corner.

With the clock ticking down it looked like extra time was on the cards, but Lindfield had other plans as Dawson was able to drive forward and get a shot off. Maguire made an excellent legs-first sliding save, but Felicity Green stepped up to the rebound to slot the winner and seal the trophy for Lindfield.

Kellyville Kolts Soccer Club 0

Eschol Park FC 5

Eschol Park have claimed a comprehensive 5-0 victory over the Kellyville Kolts Soccer Club to be crowned the 15 Boys Grand Final winners for 2024.

Despite Kellyville starting out the stronger of the two teams it was Jackson Domanski who struck first for Eschol Park in the 12th minute as he calmly intercepted the oppositions pass and fired home past James Singh.

Two-minutes later and Eschol Park doubled their margin as Zaayan Woksam went on a damaging run from just inside the halfway line before craftily passing it off to Alexander Hoare who made no mistake from the edge of the box with his strong finish.

Kellyville try as they might weren’t able to find a way back into the contest as Tom Smart blasted his long-range attempt straight into the hands of James Singh in the 17th minute.

Nathan Laurence then came closest in the opening half as his strike dragged inches wide of the goals much to his dismay close to half an hour in.

Two-minutes into the second half and the affair was done and dusted as after two near-finishes, Eschol claimed their third courtesy of Jayden Kurniawan. He swiped away Alex Milas’s pass, dished the ball to Alexander Hoare who sidestepped a couple of defenders and then delivered it back to Kurniawan who buried it into the back of the net.

Domanski proceeded to collect his second stunner of the afternoon less than ten-minutes later as he forged his way past Hili, then Singh from a difficult angle and managed to roll the ball in.

Eschol continued their truly stunning run of goals in the 60th minute when Tyler English vehemently converted from the spot as he flew the ball in past a diving Singh. The penalty coming after Hili illegally pulled down Hoare from behind.

Commiserations to Kellyville, however Eschol Park were well deserved winners.

The striker’s Talia Davis got to the rebound, but some important goal-line defending from Michaela Mclean kept the scores level.

Felicity Hall also went close for Lindfield, her header from the corner just wide of the target.

16 Boys

Quakers Hill Tigers 2

Lindfield Football Club 1

Quakers Hill Tigers defeated Lindfield FC 2-1 in a thrilling golden goal affair in the 16 Boys category.

Quakers Hill had the first big chance of the game, a low cross from Joshua Hand finding Diego Perez-Garcia in the box but the shot was high and wide.

It was Lindfield who broke the deadlock as Austin Mah-Chut floated a ball into the area, and a lovely header from Calan Shaw hit the right upright and bounced around on the goal line. Quakers Hill goalkeeper Levi Vander Noord thought he had done enough to swat it off the line but the goal was awarded.

Chasing a long drop kick from Vander Noord, speedy striker Akeeny Abusalah was brought down in the box by Lindfield’s Richard Jang. Hand stepped up to slot the penalty and equalise for the Tigers.

Late in the first half, a free kick taken by the Tigers’ Andre Sathiavan was spilled by Lindfield goalkeeper Nicholas Batistich and was tapped just wide by Abusalah.

Lindfield had the first real chance of the second half when Jurriaan Conen unleashed from the edge of the box, only for the ball to sail just over the crossbar.

Charles Hargrave went close again for Lindfield, spearing a shot at the near post which Vander Noord covered well.

Vander Noord remained up to the task in the Quakers Hill goal, as he saved a Jude Cho shot with plenty of power.

Both teams pushed hard for a winner, but the teams couldn’t be split in regulation so extra time was on the way.

Finley Pridmore looked to have found the winner with a nice free kick for Lindfield that had to be saved out of the top corner by Vander Noord.

In a fitting end to a fantastic match, Quakers Hill’s Shayaan Shahriar fired a long range effort with a first time hit from the edge of the centre circle, which floated over Batistich for a stunning goal, deserving of the pitch storming celebrations that followed.

Belrose Terrey Hills Raiders 0

Lilli Pilli FC 1

Lilli Pilli FC have been crowned the 17 Boy’s Grand Final winners for 2024 after Liam Skyes stunned the Belrose Terrey Hills Raiders with a scintillating long-range effort in the 77th minute.

The early exchanges were nervy as both teams exchanged testy chances. This was highlighted through Lewis Freeman’s nice ball into the Raiders box with no one positioned there to collect and shoot it.

Similarly, that happened to the Raiders in the 17th minute as Charlie Budge flicked off a well-crafted backheel pass into the attacking area, but no one saw it coming and was swamped on by Lilli Pilli’s defence.

Seconds later the play switched up and Ben Bonner went agonisingly close to opening the scoring as he drew his strike inches wide of the post.

Both sides continued to fire off chances before the end of the half with Dylan Pisani miskicking the ball in the 35th minute for Lilli Pilli before Bailey Smith picked up the ball and forced an awkward save out of Alex Jones.

The second half went bang in the 56th minute as Lewis Freeman collided with the opposition and caused his marking Man to smash into the nearby fencing. Thankfully he was ok. Freeman again involved minutes later colliding with his opposing Raider.

Fifteen-minutes later normalcy resumed as Pisani and Bonner teased the Raiders with a series of tasty passes close to their box as they looked to forge a winner.

Then with three-minutes from fulltime remaining Liam Skyes out of nowhere blasted the ball from just inside the halfway line, past a backtracking Jones and into the back of the net. His super strike delivering his side the Grand Final victory.

The Raiders retaliated almost immediately with a late flurry of chances, but it wasn’t to be in their gutting defeat, including failing to capitalise from a corner kick with one-minute remaining.

21 Men

Collaroy Cromer Strikers 1

Cronulla Seagulls FC 0

The Collaroy Cromer Strikers claimed a dramatic 1-0 win in the 21 Men’s 2024 Grand Final after a monumental strike to Justin George four-minutes from fulltime.

It took two-minutes for the Seagulls to test the Strikers as Jackson Greck skewed his shot wide after the sharp pass from Luke Cutcliffe into the box.

Harry Hindle then went close before opposing goalkeeper Dylan Cahill regained possession of the ball before it landed over the line.

After the opening ten-minutes Collaroy Cromer became more comfortable and nearly converted as Ashton Yates forged a galloping run down the sidelines in Cronulla’s half before he lost possession, and the ball rolled to a stop with Oliver Gravenor.

Down the other end of the field Jackson Fox missed a clear sitter on the twenty-minute mark as he surprisingly rattled the crossbar.

Close to the interval Henry Dewar couldn’t quite twist his audacious attempt in. Whilst Cronulla witnessed Matthew Nunn’s shot thwarted by Cahill’s fingertips, then the follow up from Luka Oliveri blazed over the bar.

The Seagulls were raring to go in the second half through Oliveri before he slipped over, and a goal went begging in the 63rd minute.

Collaroy Cromer then came awfully close to breaking the deadlock through Yates as his strike took a big deflection and beat Gravenor. It was eventually ruled out because the ball had hit Dewar in the leadup.

With the game firmly in the balance and limited time remaining a Jack Rich header into the box saw no one able to reach it as the 79th minute hit.

That before a well-crafted and match-winning strike to George in the 85th minute witnessed him beat multiple Seagulls after a brilliant through ball from Jordan Figuiere, before popping the ball into the bottom corner.

An unfortunate melee occurred right at the end with tensions high, however the Strikers deservedly emerged victorious.

Balmain DFC 4

In one of the matches of the 2024 Champion of Champions Finals, Football Canterbury’s Balmain DFC defeated Thirroul JFC in an epic clash 4-3 after extra time to clinch the major title.

Thirroul got off to the best possible start as Ava Byrom notched home the game’s first goal before Sophie Myles equalised for Balmain in the 21st minute.

An unfortunate own goal from keeper Lillian Iredale three minutes later gave Balmain the lead before Carla Robertson made it 3-1 in the 52nd minute.

Balmain thought they were home and hosed but their opponents had other ideas and sent the game into extra-time thanks to a second goal from Byrom in the 72nd minute and Nikki Taylor in the 82nd minute.

With the match destined for penalties it was Hannah Garde that stole all the headlines as she guided Balmain to a memorable victory at Valentine Sports Park.

All-Age Men

Coogee United 2

Lindfield FC 1

Coogee United hung on to defeat Lindfield FC 2-1 in an evenly matched contest to take out the Champion of Champions trophy in the All-Age Men’s.

Coogee would produce the first real chance of the game in the 13th minute, as Sam Attewell headed the ball into the path of the pacey James O’Hara, who charged into the 18-yard box and fired a splintering aerial ball across goal that was intercepted by Lindfield goalkeeper Luca Sella and subsequently cleared off the line.

Neither team took a backward step in the first half, with both Coogee and Lindfield’s defenders showing plenty of grit and urgency to keep their opposition attackers at bay, meaning chances were kept few and far between.

The onset of the second half saw Coogee take a 1-0 lead in the 49th minute, with Daniel Reynolds latching onto a brilliant cross from Michael Allan and flicking up the ball before firing an audacious half-volley that bested the Lindfield defence and goalkeeper Sella and bounced into the back of the net.

Allan would cause problems again for the Lindfield defence late on, as his lofted cross found Dale Howarth at the back post, who stood strong to head the ball back into the middle of the box for Conor McLaughlin to steal in and tuck the ball home and give his side a 2-0 lead in the 85th minute.

The match was set for a dramatic finish however, with Dom Ferguson smartly baiting his defender in before unlocking Josh Tanner on the overlap, with the full-back showed pure determination in reaching the ball before hitting a lethal first-time strike that Coogee goalkeeper Fred Howe was unable to prevent despite his best efforts. 2-1 in the 93rd minute.

Coogee would ultimately prevail in both their All-Age Men’s and All-Age Women’s matches to cap off a fantastic season for the club.

All-Age Women

Gymea United 1

Coogee United 2

After a closely-fought ninety minutes, the All-Age Women’s decider between Gymea United and Coogee United was forced into extra time, where a Golden Goal winner from Natasha Wad gave Coogee United a 2-1 win.

Chances were limited in the first half, with the action largely kept to the midfield as both back-lines were quick to cutout any attempts to bypass their respective backlines.

Gymea would fashion a significant chance in the 22nd minute after Sunny Lucien was played through and proceeded to storm toward the opposition’s goal. The No. 9 then attempted to place her shot into the far corner but was denied by Coogee goalkeeper Amy Singh, who dropped down to her left to make an important save.

No added time meant that the two teams headed straight into the changing rooms on the 45th minute, which was emblematic of how closely-contested the opening half was.

The second half began with a bang as Coogee made Gymea pay for failing to clear the ball, with Lou Pack given time and space to square her pass to an unmarked Ella Munro who toe poked a strong finish into the roof of the net. 1-0 to Coogee in the 47th minute.

An opportunity presented itself for Gymea to equalise in the 84th minute with Jasmin Saunders knocked down on the edge of the 18-yard box. Melody Nelson then stepped up to take the set piece and floated a sensational free-kick into the top left corner in the 85th minute, the leveler meaning the two sides were forced into extra time.

Gymea would be left to rue their mistakes again as Coogee winger Natasha Wad capitalised on an errant back pass and cut in before unleashing a well-taken low strike that bested the outstretched Michaela Davies in the Gymea goal, giving her side the Golden Goal winner in extra time.

Over 30 Women

Wakehurst Football Club 0

North Sydney United 2

North Sydney United were too strong in the Over 30 Women, beating Wakehurst Football Club 2-0.

North Sydney United looked dangerous from the get-go, with a cross from right wing Marta Kielich forcing a tough claim from Wakehurst goalkeeper Alison Dean.

The chances continued to come for United, as Sarah Schwark played a clever scoop pass over the Wakehurst backline and into the box for Kielich who couldn’t direct her shot goalward.

After plenty of opportunities, it was Linda Carroll who found the opening goal for North Sydney United from close range after a good team build up.

Wakehurst continued to show plenty of spirit, a strong tackle in the box from Ellyse Williams denied Carroll when she looked set to score a second.

Soon after Wakehurst won themselves the first corner of the game, with centre back Williams almost scoring directly from the corner.

North Sydney United wasted no time in the second half, an early chance by Kielich beat the goalkeeper Dean but went across the face of goal.

United weren’t done just yet, as Jarka Rey went one on one with Dean who pulled off a miraculous sliding save.

North Sydney did find a second goal just moments later, when a lovely Carroll cross found Rey, who placed her header into the bottom corner.

Wakehurst had their own very exciting opportunity to come, as Bowgerald came outside her box to clear a Williams free kick and was tackled by Susan Alagich, who was able to beat the keeper but not before plenty of North Sydney United players quickly retreated and were crucial in saving a goal in the chaos.

The game finished 2-0 with North Sydney United deserved winners.

APIA Leichhardt Tigers Juniors 3

Penrith Rovers 1

APIA Leichhardt Juniors have run rampant beating the Penrith Rovers 3-1 to win the 2024 Over 35 Men’s Champion of Champions Grand Final.

This was their second major Football NSW title following its State Cup victory earlier in the year.

From start to finish APIA, littered with former NPL NSW Men’s stars, displayed their class and poise as they bagged the opening strike in the 20th minute thanks to Peter Crevani. He started it with a smooth run close to the box and finished it with a little dink into the back of the net.

Moments later the Rovers unfortunately witnessed Daniel Carrozza come in with an outstretched leg to deny Joseph Cartisano a clearcut chance at goals as the physicality started to erupt.

Then in the 36th minute Mark Mallia reared in studs up on Vassilis on the edge of the box. Crevani’s ensuing free kick followed and it caused some grief amongst the opposition as Jarrod Marsh was forced to punch the ball to safety.

APIA’s second strike came on the stroke of halftime as Nicholas Paradisis made light work of the perfect through delivered to him via a masterful pieces of display from the maestro Franco Parisi.

The second half got underway in chaotic fashion as Penrith drew one back in the 54th minute as Rody Georges found himself with just opposition Goalkeeper James Kovas to beat from close range which he did perfectly after Michael Yarnold played him through with the exquisite ball.

Less than sixty-seconds later Anthony Mondello capitalised for APIA after both teams scrambled to reach the ball in time after an unexpected, missed stop from Jarood Marsh.

Crevani was denied a key opportunity in the 70th minute via a commanding slide tackle from Simon Vincent, whilst eight-minutes on Vassilis nearly stole a goal only for Penrith to react at the last second and head it away to safety.

Then with the game nearing its conclusion Kovas won the race to the ball against Chris Paton. The Tigers electrifying their way through to the Grand Final triumph.

Over 45 Men’s

Dunbar Rovers 3

Mosman Football Club 2

Dunbar Rovers completed a scintillating late comeback to win the Over 45’s Champion of Champions title in a 3-2 win at Valentine Sports Park.

Mosman almost opened the scoring in the 12th minute when a ball into the middle was almost put into the back of his own net by Dunbar’s Jonathan Harris.

Dunbar had the next two chances in the match, including a header from captain Daniel Fee, before Mosman had a surge in chances, their best from Paul Rybicki.

Dunbar took a 1-0 lead into half-time when Scott Sadler delivered a free-kick into the box from the right in the 36th minute – the ball managed to evade every player in the box and found the back of the net.

After the break, Mosman were reduced to ten men Jason Lal was shown a straight red card for an elbow into the chest of Dunbar’s Harris.

Despite being down a man, Mosman levelled the match in the 53rd minute when a header off a free-kick hit the crossbar, before the ball was played back to Karl Lockett off the rebound, who slammed the ball home from close range with his left foot.

Mosman were awarded a penalty in the 60th minute following a shove in the box – Nick Slessor tucked the ball into the bottom-left corner from the spot to give ten-man Mosman a 2-1 lead.

Late drama followed, however, when Dunbar’s Lance Stewart played a deflected pass to captain Fee, who scored with the outside of his right foot in the box to level the match at 2-2 in the 74th minute.

Three minutes from full-time, in the 77th minute, Dunbar completed the comeback when Fee got to a ball in behind ahead of the Mosman goalkeeper, before he squared the ball to Stewart, who slotted the ball into the open net with his right foot to win the Over 45’s Champion of Champions tournament for Dunbar.

Following a match which had a bit of everything, Dunbar led and then came from behind to clinch the trophy with a 3-2 victory.
