Match of the Round: Marconi Stallions FC 3 defeated Camden Tigers FC 0

Marconi Stallions FC were 3-0 winners against Camden Tigers FC down at Marconi Stadium #2 on Sunday night.

The Stallions remain in fabulous form with another huge win. Erinn Cleghorn started it off with her 37th-minute goal for 1-0, then second-half goals from Hannah Voloder and substitute Ilana Kola in the 58th and 74th minute completed the win.

Camden Tigers FC battled hard across the 90 minutes but were unable to break down the resolute Stallions defence. Their best chances in the contest came from Logan Garard and Eliza Pereira in the second half.

It was the home side which started off the game on the front foot. They moved the ball well and Jasmyn Windsor flayed wide.

Next, the ball fell to Erinn Cleghorn, who thrashed it against the left post and it bounced agonisingly wide.

The Stallions kept pushing for the opener. Marie Herrera had a burst from midfield and curved an effort wide.

Their next chance came from a set piece. It fell to Charmaine Marquinez, who couldn’t direct her shot to test Tigers keeper Samantha Fulwood.

Pene Bonovas stood over a free kick for the hosts. She whipped it over the wall but it rose over the crossbar.

Marconi Stallions FC made it 1-0 in the 37th minute. Cleghorn produced a well-taken finish to find the back of the net.

The Tigers’ best chances in the first 45 minutes were mostly from set pieces, which the Stallions dealt with handily.

The Stallions were the side looking to find the next goal. Jasmyn Windsor tried to curl an effort towards goal which was claimed.

Logan Garard tried to spark something for the Tigers. She unleashed a strike from deep which Stallions keeper Elizabeth Kerkham collected.

Buoyed by that, Tigers youngster Eliza Pereira tried to find the equaliser. She produced a strong strike which forced Kerkham to turn it wide.

Bonovas showed off her wizardry from the set piece in the second half. She drove a free kick deep, then put her next one right on the head of captain Daniela Brekic to head wide.

Sharpshooter Hannah Voloder scored for 2-0 for Marconi Stallions FC. It was a fantastic strike which soared into the top of the net in the 58th minute.

They remained hungry for goals. Bonovas shot straight, then substitute Talia Kupceric forced a corner with one of her first touches.

Camden Tigers FC were looking for a route back into the contest. A low cross just evaded the trailing Jiselle Petrovski, then substitute Naomi Hart had a shot.

The Stallions added a third goal in the 84th minute. Substitute Ilana Kola fired home to round off the big performance.

Tigers substitute Kylie Ledbrook had a late chance to get the visitors on the board but dragged her effort past the right post.
