Hills Football Celebrates Milestone 2026 Season with Eyes Firmly on the Future
The 2026 grassroots season has marked a significant milestone year for Hills Football, with the Association celebrating its 10-year anniversary while continuing to build a strong foundation for the future of the game across the Hills region.
Led by CEO Jeremy Toivonen, Hills Football has combined reflection and forward planning in a year defined by growth, development initiatives, and long-term infrastructure ambitions aimed at strengthening all football ecosystems from grassroots through to elite community football.
A key highlight of the year has been the celebration of Hills Football’s 10-year anniversary, recognising a decade of development, growth in participation, and community impact across one of Football NSW’s most active regions.
Alongside the milestone, Hills Football has continued to drive forward its strategic planning framework, which is being developed to encompass all areas of football within the Hills. The plan is designed to align and empower all stakeholders, develop strong pathways, and drive coaching education under a unified long-term vision. This vision could not have been achieved without the input and dedication of a passionate and vibrant group of volunteers within our member Clubs.
Coach education has also remained a central pillar of the Association’s 2026 focus.
The Foundation of Football Course has been made free for Hills coaches, supporting local volunteers and strengthening the development of players at the grassroots level by improving coaching standards and access to education.
In addition, the newly launched Hills Football Development Squad program has provided an important pathway opportunity for talented players from Hills member clubs. The program, introduced in 2026, offers selected players additional training sessions aligned with Hills United FC, bridging the gap between community football and higher performance environments.
Hills Football has also continued its involvement in major representative opportunities, including participation in the Deploy Football NSW Association Championships, further showcasing the region’s emerging talent on a state-wide stage.
Looking ahead, one of the most significant long-term priorities for Hills Football remains the development of a dedicated Home of Football at Caddies Creek, in collaboration with Hills Shire Council. The proposed facility represents a major step forward for the region, with the potential to centralise development, training, and competition infrastructure for years to come.
With a strong focus on building a robust and cohesive football community in combination with a clear strategic direction in place, Hills Football’s 2026 season is not just a celebration of the past decade but a statement of intent for the future of football in the region.
