Rockdale City Suns open new stand in style

The club’s first “home” fixture of the season at the Ilinden Sports Centre against Bonnyrigg White Eagles followed the official opening of the covering of the seating at the picturesque ground.
The club has also invested in the playing surface with the installation of a comprehensive drainage system which should ensure a better playing surface during the winter months.
The honour of officially opening the upgraded facility was left to Mr Chris Mins from the NSW Labour Party which was a fitting gesture given the contribution to the cost of the works undertaken courtesy of a grant from the former NSW Labour Government.
Club President Paul Goreski, General Manager Zak Agioski presided over the official opening with Mr Mins.
The club would again like to thank and acknowledge the work undertaken behind the scenes by all concerned in securing the grant and in particular the efforts of the Local MP Member for Kogarah, Ms Cherie Burton and the former NSW Labor Premiere Kristina Keneally.
The works would not have been possible had it also not been for the loyal support of the club’s hard working volunteers and supporters in raising the necessary funds.
On hand at the official opening was a large number of the club’s Juniors, PDP players, Premier League Youth players and members.
Following the completion of the formalities, it was left to the clubs NSW Premier League under 20’s and First Grade teams to showcase their skills for the large gallery in attendance.
Whilst the result did not go our way, the club has no doubt that its emphasis on undertaking infrastructure works will reap the rewards as it will provide the necessary basis for the club’s talented player base to grow and prosper.
