Prenzoski sinks Sydney United with double strike

The first chance of the game fell with Sydney United midfielder Christopher Boyle providing a low cross early on for Luka Glavas, however the Wollongong defence blocked his attempted shot away from goal.
Wollongong City ook control from that point, Steve Hayes and Ballamadou Conde created a dominant passing game and it proved effective when Hayes put in a sensational through ball to Ilija Prenzoski to find himself one-on-one with Sydney United goalkeeper Vedran Janjetovic to easily slot the first for the match.
The first goal proved to have dismantled the Sydney United defence with Wollongong forward Osagie Ederaro allowed to shoot from 20-metres out, however his effort sailed wide to the right.
In the 16^? minute Osagie again had a chance to double the lead with a tremendous individual effort inside the 18-yard box. Despite the striker?s promising position inside the box, his effort was thwarted by the Sydney United goalkeeper.
Prenzoski and Osagie were looking to take control of the edgy United defence, when great link-up play set Osagie up for another strike – however this time substitute defender Milan Bosnar came to the rescue with a great tackle to divert the effort.
The Wollongong midfield was providing some great show-piece passing with Conde, Chris Price and Steve Hayes in the thick of the action in the middle of the park. Wollongong went into the half-time break with a well deserved one-nil lead.
The second-half began like the first ended.
In the 47^? minute Ballamadou Conde went on the attack striking a splendid shot 20-metres from goal, only for United goalkeeper Janjetovic to get a slight touch to push it away from goal.
Again the United defence was looking edgy and it nearly cost the side after Prenzoski intercepted a pass only to be called offside.
Wollongong was prevailing with constant pressure from the midfield, there was some superb short-game passing between midfielders Conde and Matt Bailey.
The game was well over in the 56? minute when a controversial goal all but dented United?s confidence. Osagie Ederaro was again in the thick of it, flicking the ball to Ballamadou Conde who in-turn placed a great through ball to Prenzoski for his second of the afternoon.
Wollongong midfielder Ballamadou Conde was having a superb afternoon and could have topped it off with a splendid goal in the moments later when a great cross from Chris Price picked out Conde, only for his attempted volley to only just sneak over the bar.
Sydney United looked down and out of the game, however could have snuck a goal in the 85^? minute when Elsid Barkhousir provided a deadly cross from a good link-up play with Luka Glavas. Unfortunately for the home-side, no Sydney United players were in the penalty-area to divert the ball into the back of the net.
Wollongong almost added a third through Chris Price when he struck from just outside the 18-yard box but the ball sailed over the post.
Wollongong FC controlled and dominated the game throughout and the side went on to claim a comfortable two-nil win and three vital points. 
Wollongong FC coach John Turner was very pleased about the three-points, however he said it was the performance that won them the game:
?I thought we went out there and controlled the whole game, we played some great link-up play in the middle of the park and I was pleased with the way the team controlled the pace of the game.
?I feel that we?re rising to better performances and this was a great result and it puts us in a position to gain confidence to be able to play to the best of our ability for future games.?
