The Shepherd Centre in conjunction with Football NSW raised funds by fining spectators who speak to players from the sideline.
Associations from Canterbury, the Eastern Suburbs and Ku-ring-gai contributed significantly over the weekend, in an effort to encourage responsible sideline behaviour by spectators to raise money for The Shepherd Centre.
A record 62 clubs participated in the 2009 ?SSHH? weekend, with the total number of teams involved more than 2,000. Furthermore, 300 referees from the Ku-ring-gai District Football Referees Association contributed part of their match fees to the cause.
Football NSW CEO Michael Quarmby applauds the three football associations and Ku-ring-gai District Football Referees Association for their contribution to such a worthy cause.
?Canterbury, the Eastern Suburbs and Ku-ring-gai Football Associations, as well as the Ku-ring-gai District Football Referees Association should all be congratulated on their voluntary assistance in educating spectators on responsible sideline behaviour.
?Campaigns like the ?SSHH? Weekend reinforce the positive association between football and helping others, which is something we at Football NSW are proud to be connected with? said Mr. Quarmby.
Further details to the amount raised will be released by the end of this week.
