State League Division 1 Round 10 Preview

Whether she has any impact on the postponement of matches remains to be seen, so stay tuned to the Football NSW website for updates.
The tenth round is split between three games each on Saturday evening (all kicking off at 7-30pm) and Sunday afternoon (3pm kick offs for each game).
Arlington Oval is getting a real workout of late, the ground being shared between Dulwich Hill and Stanmore Hawks, and this weekend is no different.
Undefeated Dulwich Hill will be looking to continue their march on Saturday when they host the winless UNSW. Boasting the best defence in Division One, it is difficult to see Dully losing this one, but UNSW did manage three goals last weekend, and will go into this match as underdogs with nothing to lose.
Look out for Dully?s Rafael Bove and Sam Messam, who have been in great form of late, combining experience and braun in an effective midfield combination.
Balmain won?t relish visiting the CSI Sports Ground on Saturday, given the Schofields beast is really gaining some momentum recently.
The Scorpions are the competition leaders, firing on all cylinders, and scoring at will, as reflected in their 10-2 thumping of Hills Brumbies last weekend.
Balmain are a determined outfit with a high workrate, and won?t lie down easily, but their ability to withstand any onslaught will be severely tested this weekend.
Hajduk Stadium will play host to an intriguing match between Sydney Wanderers and Inter Lions, also on Saturday night.
The Wanderers have suffered a couple of blows within 48 hours early this week, with losses against Stanmore Hawks (0-3) in the league on Sunday, followed up by a Tiger Turf Cup thrashing (0-5) at the hands of Wollongong on Tuesday.
This match is a real crossroads for the Wanderers, who will be desperate to stay in touch with the top half of the competition.
Inter Lions had a great win against Hurstville last weekend, with new signing James Kovas amidst the goals, and come into the match totally fresh given their midweek postponement (vs Schofields) of a catch up game.
Back to Arlington Oval on Sunday, where Stanmore Hawks have a great opportunity to show they are the real deal when they host Blacktown Spartans.
The Hawks have steadily been climbing the ladder, and can move to within a point of the Spartans with a victory in this one.
Have the wheels fallen off for Blacktown? Two consecutive losses will say ?yes?, but both defeats were narrow, and I?m sure coach Ben De Haan will have regrouped his troops to be ready for this clash.
Hurstville ZSC will be confident of breaking their duck on Sunday with a win against fellow strugglers Hills Brumbies at Hurstville Oval. The home side will be looking towards big Stiven Kostanic to keep scoring goals and steer them to a victory, with the three points in this match moving them above their opponents.
Hills are really struggling of late, and will be eager to bounce back with an improved performance given the return of some first teamers who missed last week?s embarrassing loss to Schofields.
The final match of the round is between Fairfield City Lions and Mounties FC at Norford Park. Fairfield have had a topsy turvy season in terms of results, and consistency will be the key this week and beyond if they are to make a push towards the semi finals.
Mounties have hit their straps of late, and find themselves a point off the top, hoping to keep the pressure up with another victory on Sunday.
Division One – Top Goalscorers Week Nine
There was plenty of movement this week in the scoring charts, as Round Eight produced the highest scoring round this season thus far, with 34 goals in 6 games at an average of almost six goals per game. Glenn McPherson is the only player with an average of greater than a goal per game in 2009, hitting four last weekend vs Hills Brumbies to reach double figures, whilst Stiven Kostanic continued his consistent good form with a brace against Inter Lions.
10 ? Glenn McPherson (Schofield Scorpions)

6   ? Stiven Kostanic (Hurstville ZSC)
5   ? Daniel Borg (Sydney Wanderers), Domenic Dimento (Inter Lions), Wissam Hijazi (Stanmore Hawks), Neil Philippou (Dulwich Hill)
4? Wand Jajaw (Blacktown Spartans), Daniel Cornett (Blacktown Spartans), Nabil Codmani (Fairfield City Lions), Semih Sozer (Fairfield City Lions), Steve Biviano (Mounties FC),  Eddie Adam (Sydney Wanderers).
