The action kicked off at Bonnyrigg Sports Centre on Saturday as the White Eagles finally got the win they needed to jump start their season with a thrilling 2-1 victory over a determined Rockdale City Suns outfit.
The Suns took the early initiative thanks to a freakish own goal by White Eagles defender Michael Robinson but the home side were on level terms a couple of minutes later via Nathan Elasi.
Bonnyrigg were then reduced to ten men halfway through the second half as Nikola Zonjic was shown a straight red before Tynan Diaz celebrated with his teammates as he snuck home a later winner to gift his club three precious points. The victory was soured though by the sending off of Zonjic as well as Shane Webb from Bonnyrigg in the dying stages of the match.
Sunday saw the cameras at Lily Homes Stadium as Blacktown City FC continued its recent rise in performances with a credible 2-1 win over Sydney United.
Milorad Simonovic opened the scoring for the home side before Luka Glavas equalised via a neatly taken penalty.
Zac Cairncross was the hero however as he met a neat ball played by Simonovic prior to the half time whistle which handed United their first loss for 2011 but pushed Blacktown further up the NSW Premier League ladder.
