The action kicked off at Lily Homes Stadium on Thursday as the Bonnyrigg White Eagles took on arch rivals Sydney United in the rescheduled fixture between the two after their game was called off during their round 4 encounter due to wet weather.
Played in chilly conditions it was the Reds who struck first via Luka Glavas but Brad Boardman equalised for Brian Brown?s men.
United claimed all three points though as Ante Tomic notched up a delightful header which sent all three points to Edensor Park in what was a thrilling contest between the two.
On Saturday it was action plus as Bankstown City took on Sydney Olympic in a match which produced 7 goals and 10 cautions making it one of the matches of the season thus far.
As many as 7 players returned to Bankstown as ex-coach Peter Tsekenis, now with Olympic, took a swag of players with him to the Blues and what a match this turned out to be.
Bankstown drew first blood via Aman Hadid with a rocket of a shot only to be denied a couple of minutes later by Robbie Mileski who struck against his old club with a fine header.
Enter one of the goals of the season as Chris Triantis struck a bullet style shot that hit the top left corner to put Olympic in front before Banktsown?s Blaz Dejanovic levelled things up just before half time.
Second half and it was all Olympic as they scored three goals, Richard Luksic, Jerry Kalouris and Mileski struck a second to gift Tsekenis? men the three precious points and top spot in the NSW Premier League.
Finally at Sydney United Sports Centre on Sunday it was the top of the table clash between Sydney United and Sutherland Sharks.
In what was a cagy affair between the two clubs, the match ended scoreless 0-0 with United the better of the two side?s having had numerous chances at goal but failed to capitalise.
