In a major coup for the IGA National Premier Leagues NSW Mens 1 competition, Sydney Olympic will take on Holger Osieck’s Qantas Socceroos side this Wednesday 15th of May at Belmore Sports Ground with kick off scheduled for 7:30pm in a training match.
Osieck recently selected a sprinkling of local players for a Central Coast training camp as part of preparations for the upcoming FIFA World Cup Asian Qualifiers against Japan, Jordan and Iraq next month.
The likes of Melbourne Victory’s Mark Milligan, Adelaide United’s Dario Vidosic, Jon McKain and Eugene Galekovic, Brisbane Roar’s Jade North and Ivan Franjic, Western Sydney Wanderers’ Aaron Mooy and skipper Lucas Neill could well take to the pitch against Peter Tsekenis’ men on Wednesday.
It will be a special occasion for North especially as he played two seasons with Sydney Olympic in 2001 to 2003 where he won a NSL Championship with the Blues.
This match coincides with the Young Socceroos’ friendly match against current IGA National Premier Leagues NSW Mens 1 league leaders Bonnyrigg White Eagles at the Bonnyrigg Sports Centre on the same night.
The upcoming 2014 FIFA World Cup Asian Qualifier between the Qantas Socceroos and Japan, Jordan and Iraq will be broadcast exclusively live on FOX SPORTS with SBS TV as the exclusive free to air broadcaster for all three (3) matches.
Tickets for the Qantas Socceroos matches against Jordan and Iraq are available for purchase from www.footballaustralia.com.au/tickets
