As Round 10 of the Women’s Premier League beckons, the table begins to take shape. Only three points separate first to fifth.

The top half of the table is beginning to take shape and it is evident which teams will be vying for finals football. At the other end of the table, teams will be looking t kick start their 2013 campaigns with wins.
The early game on Sunday takes us to Cromer Park for a 1pm kick off. The 8th placed Manly United FC take on 10th placed Central Coast Mariners Academy. The Mariners will be looking to bounce back from last week’s demolition at the hands of the Inter Lions while Manly will be looking to build on from their draw away to Sydney University.
At Blacktown Football Park on Sunday at 3pm, The Blacktown Spartans FC in 9th place take on cellar dwellers Sutherland Sharks Football Association. Both teams come off big losses from last week and will be looking to make amends this week. The Sharks will be looking to take their first victory of the season; will a wounded Spartan be their first casualty?
At Concord oval also on Sunday at 3pm, the 5th placed Inter Lions take on the 3rd placed Macarthur Rams. The lions come off a massive victory last Sunday and will look to jump the Rams with victory. The Rams though will have other plans. Having lost their first game of the season last week to the Illawarra Stingrays they’ll be raring to go to set the record straight and get back on the winners list.
Also at 3pm on Sunday at JJ Kelly Park, the Illawarra Stingrays who lie in 4th take on the North West Sydney Koala’s in 2nd. Both teams will be looking to bounce back and build on great victories from last week. The Stingrays knocked off the undefeated Macarthur Rams away from home 2-1 and will be determined to continue climbing the ladder. The Koala’s put 7 past a hapless Northern Tigers last week but will settle to be better by the odd goal at the weekend.
Northbridge oval plays host to Northbridge FC in 7th position and the Northern Tigers in 11th on Sunday at 3pm. Two teams rebounding from different results last week. Northbridge recorded a high scoring victory over Sutherland while the Tigers were shredded by the Koala’s. The tigers will be looking to picking up their first three points of the season. Northbridge however, may be looking to catch the final train to fight for a top 5 position.
An interesting and intriguing match will take place on Sunday at 3pm at Marconi Stadium. The high flying Marconi Stallions take on 6th placed Sydney University. Marconi will be looking to keep their undefeated run flowing and victory will keep them atop of the Women’s Premier League. Meanwhile, Sydney University are fighting for a top 5 spot and victory against Marconi will see them come closer to their goal of finals football. Anything but victory could see that dream of finals football start to slip from them.
Before us lies a week of interesting and intriguing matches. Get down and watch some great football on show!
