Four points separate the top six teams in the PlayStation 4 NPL NSW Women’s competition in what will be an extremely tight fight in the battle for the Premiership.

Illawarra Stingrays v Emerging Jets

It’ll be a massive double header at WIN Stadium on Sunday afternoon as the Illawarra Stingrays host the Emerging Jets.

The Stingrays are one of only two teams who are yet to taste defeat so far this season.

With 18 goals in five games and an in form attack, in particular experienced captain Michelle Carney, the Stingrays are making a real stake for Premiership contenders.

The Jets are yet to register a point this term and come up against one of the strongest teams in the competition.

They have been improving though and reward for their hard work seems not too far away.

Blacktown Spartans v NWS Koalas

Blacktown Football Park will host the new competition leaders as the NWS Koalas travel to take on the Blacktown Spartans.

The Spartans knocked off leaders Uni last week, comprehensively to say the least, and they’ll look to do the same this week by taking the scalp of the Koalas.

Paul Costantini’s girls continue to rise up the ladder and sit in sixth place, only four points away from their weekend opponents and victory will have them breathing down the Koalas’ necks.

The Koalas have gone about their business quietly, getting the job done week after week and have found themselves on top of the pile.

Stephen Peters will want to ensure his girls don’t get ahead of themselves and continue what they’ve been doing so far.

Marconi Stallions v Manly United

At Marconi Stadium on Sunday afternoon, the Marconi Stallions will tackle Manly United.

The Stallions have battled week after week but have been missing that killer instinct in front of goal.

Stephen Neligan’s team has only scored three times this term but once they improve their finishing, they will shoot right up the ladder.

Manly will head into this one on a high, having registered win number one of the season last weekend.

Points have been hard to come by for the young side so far despite probably deserving more, but captain Kristie Crawford will look to lead her young team to another victory.

Football NSW Institute v Macarthur Rams

At Valentine Sports Park, it’s a replay of the 2015 Grand Final as the Football NSW Institute does battle with the Macarthur Rams.

Princess Ibini-Isei has found form for the Institute as the free scoring team looks to move up the table.

Their defence needs to be tightened, currently holding the worst defence in the competition, something Craig Foster will certainly address.

The Rams dropped points last week against the North Shore Mariners, the first time since round one.

Renee Rollason hit the cross bar twice last week from free kicks and will need to hit the back of the net on Sunday as the Rams look to get back on track.

North Shore Mariners v Sydney University

At Northbridge Oval it’ll be 3v4 as the North Shore Mariners take on Sydney University.

The Mariners picked up a massive player in Matilda Lisa De Vanna last week as well as a victory over the Macarthur Rams.

Spencer Prior’s team is coming along fine and are the other undefeated side in the competition.

Alarm bells aren’t ringing yet at Uni but shock has hit many as they’ve hit a mini blip in form, going two games without a win.

Heather Garriock will look to shake up her squad, in particular after last week’s defeat and move them back to the top of the table.
