Only three points separate the Top six teams in the PlayStation 4 NSW NPL Women’s competition.

In a season that has never been closer, every point matters, even after only six rounds have been completed.

Emerging Jets v Marconi Stallions

The Marconi Stallions will travel to Lake Macquarie Football Park to take on the Emerging Jets.

Clare Wheeler and the Jets were fantastic in the opening 45 minutes last weekend against one of the competition heavyweights.

They fell away in the second half though, something that will be certainly addressed for this young team.

For the Stallions, it was a tight but important victory on Sunday as Heidi Makrillos scored the winner.

Stehpen Neligan’s team have had some bad luck in front of goal this season and will need to improve their form in front of goal if they’re to challenge the leading pack of six.

Manly United v Blacktown Spartans

Cromer Park will host the fixture between Manly United and the Blacktown Spartans on Sunday.

United narrowly went down on the weekend again, something that is becoming a trend.

Some more experience for this young side and they will start turning those results into victories.

The Spartans continue their surge up the ladder and have thrown themselves right in the mix for the title.

Consecutive wins against the ‘leaders’ of the competition, the Spartans have shown they have the pedigree to beat anyone.

This game will be a true test for the Spartans as Manly may feel they could spring a surprise here.

North West Sydney Koalas v North Shore Mariners

A derby of sorts as the North West Sydney Koalas welcome the North Shore Mariners at ELS Hall Park.

The Koalas held the mantle of league leader for one week before succumbing to defeat on Sunday.

Stephen Peters will hope he can get his team back on track with three points against the Mariners.

The North Shore Mariners have had a somewhat topsy-turvy start to the season, not being able to secure a run of wins under their belt.

Spencer Prior’s team posses some real talent within their ranks and will look to bounce straight back this weekend.

Macarthur Rams v Illawarra Stingrays

Old foes lock horns at Lynwood Park as the Macarthur Rams will host table toppers Illawarra Stingrays.

The Rams picked up a convincing win over the weekend, their biggest of the campaign so far.

A victory would mean the Rams leapfrog the Stingrays on the ladder and could even see them move into first place if other results go their way.

The Stingrays have had a fantastic start to 2016, they are yet to lose and looking at the rest of their opponents from the top.

They’ve been lethal in front of goal, scoring 26 goals in only six games with Caitlin Cooper and the two Michelle’s, Carney and Heyman really showing their quality.

When Jordan Baker and Erica Halloway are added to those three names, it adds fear to all opposing defences.

Sydney University v Football NSW Institute

Sydney University will host the Football NSW Institute at Sydney University Football Ground on Sunday.

Uni snapped an unusual two-game winless streak to claim a comprehensive 3-0 win away to the Mariners.

Heather Garriock will expect her side to record another three points as the race for the title already heats up.

The Institute found it tough last week, going down 5-1 at home, a disappointing result for them.

Picking up any points on Sunday would be fantastic for them and a real confidence boost.
