Football NSW Hosts June Community Referee Branch Forum
Football NSW recently hosted the Community Referee Branch Forum bringing together referee branches from across the state to collaborate as well as share updates on upcoming developments within the game.
The Community Referee Branch Forum is a key initiative by the Football NSW Referees Department, designed to foster communication and consistency across all affiliated referee branches. It provides a platform for branch representatives to receive critical updates, exchange ideas and ensure that referees at all levels are supported with the latest tools and knowledge.
“It was great to see the June branch forum so well attended,” said Football NSW’s Community Referees Coordinator Cameron Duck.
“The referee branches are an integral part of what we do here at Football NSW.
“Without them, a lot of games would go without a referee. I’d like to thank everyone who took the time to come to Valentine Sports Park and for their engagement not only tonight but throughout the season.”
This month’s forum focused on several important developments in the referee space, including:
- The new PlayFootball system will streamline registration and management processes for referees and administrators alike
- Football Australia’s new learning platform, etrainu, which replaces the previous education system and will serve as the primary hub for referee courses, learning modules, and certification tracking as well as qualification upgrade courses
- An overview of the Football Australia Referee Academy, a national program aimed at identifying and developing the next generation of elite referees across the country
- A revamped Referee RESPECT Campaign
The forum was well attended, with 14 referee branches participating in the session.

The strong attendance and active engagement demonstrated the shared commitment among referee branches to continuously improve officiating standards and support referee development at all levels.
