Collaroy Cromer Strikers take out 2025 State Robertson Cup
Manly Warringah Football Association’s (MWFA) Collaroy Cromer Strikers won 2-0 against Penrith FC to win the Robertson Cup in the 21 Mens final at Valentine Sports Park on Sunday afternoon,
Collaroy Cromer Strikers were the brighter side in the opening exchanges. The first opportunity fell to Ashton Yates who struck one first time.
Penrith FC started to find their rhythm and fired their first warning shot which Collaroy Cromer Strikers custodian Zac Downs pushed wide.
Collaroy Cromer Strikers made it 1-0 in the 20th minute. It was a fizzing effort from Henry Dewar which flew into the top corner.
Penrith FC were starting to surge forward to find an equaliser. The ball fell to Luke Norton who drove a shot over.
The Strikers worked the ball well inside their box and almost added a second. Justin George cut it back for Brodie Powell to turn wide.
Penrith dug in to try and get back into the game. Diab Finnianos put through Beau Lewis who curled his shot past the post.
Dewar gave Strikers the perfect start to the second half. He was slipped in by Ben Dryburgh then provided a delicate finish for 2-0 in the 49th minute.
Dryburgh tried to add himself to the scoresheet soon after. The ball fell kindly to him and he swerved an effort right at the keeper.
The Strikers were in full flow after the second goal. They rattled the bar then George unfurled an effort which was gathered.
There was a chance for Dewar to complete his hat-trick. He got the ball inside the box and forced the Penrith FC keeper into a diving stop.
The Strikers looked to put the icing on the cake late on. George drove an effort low which was taken well.
Penrith FC tried until the final whistle but couldn’t find a way past the spirited Collaroy Cromer Strikers defence.
The Strikers had a final chance through Robert Reskov’s header which looped wide but they saw out the remaining time to win the Robertson Cup.
